Hey dudes,

I went to pc club and i told the man that i wanted a tower for video and audio editing. He showed me a specific one and upgraded the memory from 1 gig to 2 gigs. It was sounding really great, but i came home and researched it and i found out about amd athlons and stuff and now im confused. I want a computer that will be compatible with any editing program that i may get.
I will post the link for the computer that he showed me but keep in mind the memory is upgraded from 1 to 2 gigs. Please get back to me fast and tell me if it is a good audio and video editing computer. also will programs such as pro tools be compatible? Thanks alot guys. I really appreciate it. :)

Here is the link to the computer. The right side of the page has all the system info.

www.digidesign.com/compato .. i think thats the site to check for compatibility.. im too tired tonight to look it over for you

I noticed it only has one harddrive, thats not good for business..

have a second SATA drive installed and use it specifically for audio.

Is this computer strictly for recording? or are you going to use it for email, internet, e-pimping and porn?? the reason i ask is, that virus scan will take up some memory , and slow things down a bit.. not so desirable for audio/video editing apps... same with that spyware program.

Also, no monitor included.. keep that in mind..

Also, theres a solid chance that they will load the computer up with shit. and by shit, i mean shit. Ideally for optimal system performace, you'll just want a base install of the OS, and your audio/video editing app.. nothing else. After doing some PC tweaking (i think theres a thread here somewhere?) the system will fly.. that processor has a fair sized L2 Cache, and a decent FSB .. you wont have any problems with anything, it will be able to handle whatever you throw at it.

Only thing you have to look at it, is to make sure that digidesign is compatible with that specific chipset..

Thanks alot.

Hey man,

Thanks alot for the reply. I went over to pc club before i was able to read your reply, Sorry about that. The computer tower that i posted above was a single core processor, i ended up buying another tower today that has a dual core processor which will probably be better. Then i just upgraded the ram to 2 gigs and the hard drive to 160 gigs. All the specs are pretty much the same but now with a dual core.
I got a top of the line sound card and a decent video card. It will be about a week until they get the shipment. I cant wait! :D I will post a link to the computer soon even though nobody cares probably. :D
I still wouldn't mind hearing some feedback about it. Also, The reason i am only buying the tower is becuase i have a shitty tower right now but over time i purchased a new flat screen, keyboard, and speakers so i didnt need all that stuff.

Thanks again.
