Anybody in this Ng heard their new song "Give it to me"

What are they doing on Mariah's Vox to get that airy hi freq type of sound? Is it Eq on the Vox themselves or Eq on the effects or ???

Hate to ask a question so general. I will experiment tonight,, but wanted to hear from you guys before I start guessing.

Maybe 2 mics and rolling off the lows on one of them?

Thanks

don't know for sure, but from the sound i would say they are EQing the reverbed background tracks after they compress the living snot out of them as a sub-mix.

it sounds like they have a main vocal of her, and then multiple takes of her singing her own background.

Yeah it sounds like they ran her backround vocals through some kind of filter. I hear a lot of engineering achieving that "airy" female vocal, and Im curious myself. This question has been boggling me for months, so Im glad you asked first, LOL! Anyone else think they know?

Yeah,, I think it;s more like what Cross said. Seems as if they have a main Vox with some backgrounds. I think they may have taken the reverb from the vox and applied some dynamics, squash, EQ, etc then brought the volume up to blend with the regular tracked vox. Maybe. I didnt have the time to play with it this past weekend.

Anyone else has any comments?
