I have a yamaha dgx 500 keyboard with a built in sequencer for recording 5 songs with 6 tracks each. They can be saved to a built in floppy disk drive.I would like to burn these songs to a cd but there is a problem due to the yamaha format.I don't have midi on my computer. Are there any inexpensive options? Thanks Buzzman

this MIGHT work but dont curse me if it doesnt.
i dont know your particular yam kbd but if it has l + r stereo analogue rca outputs for example , couldnt you just play back and record into your pc sound card line inputs ?
try audacity - a nice free editor . you could record on pc using audacity.
then try hitsquad.com for a freebie cdrw burning program.
i use nero that came with my cdrw (not free).
another idea is find a friend with a midi input on their pc and see if you can record into the pc like that assuming your yam has a midi ouput jack.
but you will then have to find a midi to wav convertor. hitsquad has a couple i remember.
btw - if you ever fancy putting a nice midi plus audio sequencer on your pc check out powertracks that i use. pgmusic.com. if you dont believe me talk to users on the forum at pg. this way you could use the pc to do all your midi recording AND add vocals and other instruments.
just some ideas.

Thanks Man I will certainly keep your ideas in mind. However I was hoping to avoid a pc fix only because I am an old geezer and pc's don't like me.

ok i looked up the specs briefly of your yam kbd.
difficult to find the specs. looks like you can save to a standard midi file using the built in diskette drive which i guess you could transfer to your computer and use a midi to wav convertor.
but it also looks like you have a headphone jack.
i have no idea whether its a mini jack or whatever but if it is and the line input on your sound card is mini jack eg sblaster or on board sound you just need to connect a mini jack cable from your yam phone out to sound card line input and use audacity to record. (click on the recording button in audacity). then play the keyboard diskette file and the audio will flow out of the kbd phone jack to your pc. then just save your audacity file as a standard 16 bit 44.1 khz stereo file. then import it into a burning program.
big NOTE - in audacity PREFERENCES make sure your not recording
32 bit float. if you export in this format you might have burning probs.
set it to 16 bit 44.1khz.
good luck and hope this helps.
