When someone "bumps" a thread, they are bumping to the top of the thread list. So more people will likely click on the thread and reply, like I did yours.

Oh god, there was a thread on another forum that started like this and ended up being a bit like the 'rep point' threads. Poor OP never actually got an answer to his question, but his thread got bumped a good few times every day
