...curious if anyone is using bulk strings from JustStrings.com or StringsAndBeyond. How do they compare with typical string suppliers like Martin, et al?? It's time to buy new strings and I don't want to go to the store!!! :laughings:

Any other online suppliers I should consider??

Cool, thanks.

If by "bulk," you buy, say, 15 of a particular string, and they are all loose, I'd pass. String sets usually come in sealed pouches, so they don't rust.

No rust, eh? Well, okay, then. I guess I was wrong, but I have had some strings rust. I now keep all my strings in a tupperware container with bags of silica jell in the bottom, just in case.

Thanks guys. I didn't realize they came in individual sizes. I just ordered a few 3-packs. I'd rather have them as sets.

And Stevie, I don't think Arcaxis was saying you were wrong, just that his didn't rust.

peace,

Most strings these days are made from alloys that resist rust fairly well. Some sets are more prone than others.

You can buy strings in bulk sets sets of around a dozen easily. If you want larger quantities (100+) direct PM me I may be able to hook you up depending on what make and type and what you're industry affiliation is.

Didn't take that Arcaxis was saying I was wrong, just reporting his experience- as was I. No worries here.

You can get pretty good deals on three and ten packs of strings.I buy strings for all of my instruments around once a year usually from MF.I usually look for deals on packs, free shipping and sometimes interest free payments,it's a lot more convenient and cheaper than running to the store for a single set.

Has anybody ever used off-brand strings? I see JustStrings sells some under their own name. I have a few 3-packs of Martins coming, but when they run out, I'm willing to try other strings. Just curious.

Thanks for the links.

I buy all my strings through them - great service and product!
