is that the stuff that has finger joints like every two feet? wtf!?

No, it's regular 3/4" (nominal) plywood but it has voids like crazy and you have to search through the pile to find a sheet that is legitimately 'good one side'. None the less, good for knocking up woodshop benchs/cabinets etc. or experimental stuff.

It goes for about $26 (4' x 8').

Well you could build it out of just about anything thats sturdy, even OSB which is what budget amprs are made of. It would just require covering with tolex, how hard is that though? Anybody here done it?

I'm running my Valve Special (10" speaker combo) into an old amp with 2 12" celestions and I love it. I wish I could build a cab and make it... sorta match the Epiphone. Cover it in similar tolex, and put matching grillcloth and piping on both for a matched look.

I had a old altec speaker cab with 4 12's and every one ot the speakers had a ripped cone except one.

I found a half sheet of plywood (1/4 inch) in my shop and took a jigsaw and cut out a hole to mount the speaker in on a pretty much square piece, and 5 pieces for the sides, top/bottom, and the back.
I nailed the thing together and caulked all the seems with silicone.
I just pretty much eyeballed it because I wanted something very quick to try the valve jr amp out on.
I guess I lucked out because it sounds better than anyu other speaker I have tried it on.

That probably has more to do with the speaker.
what speaker do you have installed?
I'm gonna get one of them eminence Governors for mine 'cause they're real efficient so I'll get more volume out of it for gigging.

oh .... stupid me, it's an Altec speaker ....... great speaker man.

that's 2x4's and if you're using them for verticle frames, they're stronger (and if you're getting them from home depot, probably straighter) than the standard 2x4's.
