This Lowe's stuff doesn't seem to be the rigidized pieces, this is the compressible stuff, right?...

Right! The (Residential) Safe-n-Sound is not as rigid as say, the (Industrial) Roxul RHT 40,60, or 80. I also ordered some of that from 84 Lumber Company and it was much easier to work with for building panels.

The Rockboard is only about $20 more a case BUT it also adds $20 per case shipping - so I can build little triangle shelves every 2 feet for about $10, I think this is the way I will go. I need 3 cases. Plus the Safe and Sound is already cut into pieces 16" x 48" so I can make 3 squares per piece, then make 6 triangles out of that which are 16" x 16" x 18" - this is perfect for the corner since I don't have a lot of room and I don't want to do 24" x 24" x 30" triangles

20 bucks extra AND 20 bucks shipping? Eff that Ess in the Ay with a big fat Dee!!!

I'd rather build shelves. Screw that. This actually needs to be tested to see how many layers you should do without too much compression, to figure out how many shelves needed per height of corner superstack traps.

Most Home Depots in the US can special order Roxul products for you. Walk up to the contractors desk, (you don't have to be a contractor,) and ask them to look for the Roxul catalog. (At my local store in Pennsylvania, the sales staff never even knew the catalog was there. Duh!) We went through it, picked out some Safe-n-Sound panels, and then made a call to Roxul from the store. Presto! 3 large bundles of rockwool in roughly 3 business days.

Tip: First go to the Roxul website and learn about their products. It will help when ordering.

I went to the contractors desk - no Roxul and the OC 703 was insane - they called OC while I was standing there - they said the 2" came in packs of 8 (24x48) sheets and I had to order 5 bales. The HD guy said the cost would be around $120-$130 per. so lame - so I guess it's Lowes... but I got no Lowes credit card so that sucks.

Anyway I am building my Roxul traps now, ordered two cases from ATS acoustics. you can check out the traps i built in the chronology thread.

I know its tough to hunt down this stuff, but if I can try here, I wanna convince everyone reading this thread, and ANY thread about Roxul or OwensCorning insulation, to contact local building supply houses. Avoid Home Depot and Lowe's, and spend the extra time searching and calling wholesale supply houses. You'll find more reasonable prices on this stuff, and probably better shipping costs as well.

If there's no one locally within a reasonable drive, then yeah, you gotta hit the big box stores. But better pricing is out there, if you haggle and call around.
