I am building a project studio in my house and I need some advice on accessories to buy. I currently have a Tascam TM-D1000 and a Tascam DA-38. I also have decent microphones, and a pretty high quality sound library on my soundcard. Using just this I can get a pretty good sounding demo but the mixes sometimes sound a little flat. How can I get a more professional/industry standard sounding recording? For instance, my graphic equalizer readings don't seem to be very full looking on the spectrum (using winamp).Should I get sonic maximizers or spatial equalizaers or what? Money is somewhat of an object so at minimum...what do I need in addition to my setup to get professional sounding projects? Any help would be great. Thanks!

Normally, I would give the old sonusman's big time reaming on expecting a little demo setup to produce commercial quality results.

Let's just say that if you really want high-end professional results, you will need to buy high-end professional equipment. You are way behind the curve here with the stuff you have. So without spending a small little fortune, you will need to settle for less than professional results.

But hey, you can still have some fun, and, get all your ideas documented, and, get good pre-production ideas for when you want to really get a professional sounding product, in which case you will be spending at least $50 an hour at a studio with much better gear, and an engineer with a whole lot more experience.

Good luck.
