Building a basement studio

i've got a similar sized basement - 15' 6" x 24' and was thinking along the lines of the "garage" studio #2 design that John Sayer has out on the SAE site. http://www.saecollege.de/reference_material/titles/Plans.htm

two rooms that basically would take up the entire basement (so i'd eliminate the "outside" door on the control room and make it so the entry into the control room is via the dividing sliders). my guess on DIY construction though is probably around $8K...

Hey maybe you could just build some mobile acoustic panels and bass traps. You could mount them on casters so you can roll them in whatever configuration you need. It wouldn't be perfect but it really might help get a better sound, you could also maybe build a cloud that you can put up and take down at will.

I think I will be doing that. Does anyone have any good links to DIY portable walls?

This is the new plan I came up with for critiquing if anyone is still wiling to help me after all this mess!
I tried to label as best as I could..

---The 'lighter' green absorbers would be ceiling mounted, i suppose, since im not going to be able to build any permanent walls..
--- Everyone seems to like hardwood floors, so I figured in for a floor on the right side of the basement. I don't know if it would be high quality, probably a bunch of cheap plywood somehow fastened together.. MAYBE id be allowed to pull the carpet up where the floor would go and put it right onto the cement or carpet padding.. thoughts?
---The "moveable wall" was to isolate and create some deadspace.. maybe for guitar amps, vocal, something of that sort.. I don't know if it would do anything..thoughts?
---the 2 squares that are red were supposed to be green for absorber or diffuser. sorry.
--- I need to keep a TV down here somewhere per-dad and friends requests.. Would it really screw up accoustics being placed where it is? (Thats a TV in a big cabinet. Perhaps I could foam up the sides of the cab?
---Would the closet beneath the stairs be a good place to try and stick vocals or guitar amps?
---Is the big green "absorber" which was supposed to maybe represent a ceiling cloud or something totally nessisary? I'm trying to compile all the responses from a few forums into this one drawing hehe

Anything else anyone has to offer is appriciated! I already started building a few 2x4' absorbers just to get something going so I feel like im making progress!
