Check out this rack I put together this weekend. Saved me $200.00 on the matching slant rack from guitar center.

How can that only cost you 10.00. The mixer alone has to be worth at least twice that...Just kidding...but really only 10.00?

I would add a few bucks and add a service lid at the back...

and then maybe a deluxe version with adjustable mixer angle

Can it be bought without the behringer too or do you really want to get rid of it ;) :p :p :D

Yuck, the oversized "Eurorack MX1604A" print on the rackmount kit really puts me off. So uncool. I'd sand it or paint it or... you know what? I'll just won't buy it.

Homemade racks are cool. I made mine.

Not bad. You guys should look for Black Melamine. It is the stuff that they use on all the store bought racks and consoles. They didn't carry any at Home Depot , only had white, but most plywood stores carry it. It is only $25 for a 4x8x3/4 and it looks great. I just finished up a huge console for mixer and patchbay for under $300 including all hardware and alluminum cross supports.

I wish I had access to a woodshop so I could make cool stuff like that too. I'm pretty handy, it would be nice and relaxing to work with your hands and not with your head for a while.

But, that will not happen. I'll have to buy my rack....

Not to mention more sanitary and easy on your neck. Wait, what were we talking about?

Regebro,

It doesn't take a woodshop to do this stuff. A hammer, a drill, and a handsaw are sufficient. If you plan your casing before buying your plywood, melamine, or whatever, just have the store cut it for you. Most places like Lowe's of Home Depot or even regular lumber yards will make your cuts for 25 cents a cut. Then its just glue and screws for the rest of it, with maybe a little 1x2 bracing or use for rack rails.

Its not rocket science, and it is definitely cheaper than pre-manufactured racks.

Darryl.....

Track, that is absolutely killer. It's exactly what I want to do. Tex, how about pix. Do you guys have plans for these or did you build them on the fly.

Yeah, but I really don't like all that sawdust in my food/bed, not to talk about the sawmarks in the kitchen table is gonna make the landlord go berserk (it's their table). :)

I don't mean 'woodshop' as in ' a full featured place where you have loads of tools'. I mean 'woodshop' as in 'a room I can chop wood'. A garage or basement or heck, a backyard. :D

I'll get some pics pretty soon. I'm arranging the whole control room still so it's a huge mess right now. I drew up some plans and figured out the details with my old man as we went along. The entire console breaks down into about 6 pieces with only 16 bolts.

If you look at the Argosy consoles they are the top of the line and pretty nice. Then there is Omnirax and they make some very simple consoles that are good for ideas and easy to make. I kind of did a combination of the two.

Ausrock built a pretty slick console. There are some pics of his on some site. Anybody have a link to that?

how is it possible that the whole rack cost you 10 buxx when the wheels alone cost between 10 and 20 buxx?? Look cool, though!

I also recently built my own rack. In the end, the whole material cost me more than I would have spent if I had ordered one :-(

I don't want to be a player hater, but is it just me or is Jay's rack lop-sided? Yeah...I think it is. Look at the front cross support. Frrrrrrrttttt.

FYI, picked up this $20 rack from Sam Ash this week. Holds 8U of effects. They keep them in the back not out on the floor.

Yeah it is a bit crooked but what do you want for some old warped ass wood, casters, and spray paint! The art is the costliest work involved since it is all custom by mua.

LOL
