build a rack from wood?

I need one of those. Crap, just when I'm not yet done building my room there's more to build in the future. Does it ever end?

I bought a rack stand for the 488MKII awhile back, but that wouldn't suffice for a full-on reel machine.

Not meaning to rub this in, but I just got the first of two packages for the 32/stand I just bought. The stand doesn't have a name, but it is clearly for a reel machine. It has a tape splicer built into the "frame" at the bottom of the rack and little spring-loaded adjustment notches to adjust the angle. I was really wanting a nice recorder and the stand was an afterthough, but this is an actual reel stand I got with the sale. I guess after a couple of bad ebay experiences, a little love has come my way. Well, I haven't gotten the 32 (due tomorrow), so I'm not really in the clear just yet. I honestly didn't know they made stands with tape splicers, though. Live and learn I guess.
