I've been told that the buffer rate used doesn't matter when your are mixing down, but I really want to make sure. I have one vsti (drums) and lots of different vsts (compressions, verb, guitar distortion, and eqs). Also, even with my buffer rate at 4096 samples, I gets lots of clicks and skips when listening in real time (none of which show up on my mixdown tests). Will I be OK keeping my buffer rate this high or should I bring it down? Alternatively, if I turn the sample rate really low (lowest = 64 samples), I'm concerned the extra processing required may cause errors on any of the vsts due to not getting full attention (for lack of a better term).
I know this seems like a stupid question, but I figure better safe than sorry.
Thanks,
Kerrio
