i've been recording with my pc for a time now, my chain is mics > mixer > PC
someone told me i wouldnt get anywhere without a multitrack recorder, something like foxtex or tascam...
is this true?
whats the point of having a multitrack recorder if you already have a PC??

I don't know who told you that. Probably someone who has no concept of recording with a PC. Maybe there is a use for using a multitrack recorder with a PC, but I don't know what it is as I am a realtive newbie myself.

Exactly, wht is the point of a multitracker if you have a PC... unless you don't have multitracking software on your PC. So go and get some software: SOnar, Cubase, Protools, CollEdit...whatever. Decide what you need to do, how much $ you have and get some good software.

You said you had been recording with a PC so I assumed you had multi tracking software.

eaaaa

hahahaha
yes, i do have cool edit
hmmmm...so if i want to record more than one track at once i just get a sound card with more than one input, right?

thanks for the replies
