Im need to set up my PC to record singing and guitars, but I don't have a clue on how to do it. I have a fairly standard PC with an onboard soundcard(Realtek AC97), and logitech z-2200 speakers.

What will I need to get started?
Someone recommended the Samson c01 mic. Is it ok?
I guess I will need a headset, and maybe I will need a new soundcard as well. I have noe idea...

Please help me out here :)

A little help...

Just how small of a budget are you talking about?

Get a USB soundcard like this that comes with a basic software package. Then download this free software package that looks like a stereo editor but it's humble exterior hides a fairly powerful multitrack recorder.

And Samson make some good mics, but the C01 is not one of them. It has a fairly high noise floor, and for just a little more investment you could get one of their CL7 mics, an Audio Technica AT2020 or a Behringer B-2 pro.

Since you already have the computer, all this can be yours for the low, low discount price of $299.95 (or less).
