Hello all, well, I have posted a new song called
Broken . I am looking forward to any and all of your comments. I am still working on remixing the other song SEU to bring out the low end. I will repost that when I think it is ready.

Thanks for your time,

Vice

I like it. I thin you might have just a little to much level around :38 or so. In the thickest sections I was getting some distortion, even in my bitchin headphones. It kinda made things a bit muddy and that kinda disappointed me cause I like what I was hearing.

Nice tune, and nice recording.

Reminds me of Patrick O'Hearn. I'd like to hear more.

hey Vice,

I listened to both tunes and they were both cool.... I think i actually liked 'seu' better but i couldnt tell you why... I listened to it a few times... I can't comment on the mix because it seemed decent to me... As I said, I played it a few times.:)

nice stuff... keep em comin'

I really like these tunes. They remind me of Andreas Vollenwieder. Really cool, I'm gonna add these to my driving across the country playlist.

That tune is great! I really liked what you did with the phasing effect.

There were a few places where I thought the recording seemed a bit on the "High end" and too trebly (I am notorious for that, so I guess I am entitled to say that) It made some parts a bit distorted.

The arrangement of the song was excellent! I like the way it moves. You had good intrumentation throughout.

I liked it!

very nice...and I like the bass sound...the flanging...all of it. very nice, indeed.

Kramer, that I can't complain, is that yours? If so that's a good song. Man this is a great thread. I've found all these songs I really like! Cool. :D

Vicevursa: on Broken, what kind of instrumentation are you using? Are you familiar with Andreas Vollenweider? If not, check him out, he's right up your alley. I'd like to know a little more about your gear and recording procedures on both Broken and Seu. I think they're two of the better songs I've heard here and the production sounds very good to these ears. Tell us more. :)

Wow, thanks everyone for your kind comments. I have to say I was really amazed by your responses!
Lt. Bob, you wanted to know about my setup. It's real low budget - don't Laugh...

K62 AMD 500mHz, 128mb RAM
DFI mobo
10gb hdd for OS(WinMe), Sonar 1, and Sound Forge 5
40gb hdd for audio files
SoundBlaster Platinum Live, With the Live Drive I
I have some Altec Lansing multimedia speakers for monitoring
MOTU Pocket Express (midi interface)
MX802a mixer and a patch panel
DSP1000pro for some effects
Alesis QS6.1
Alesis DM5
Yamaha PSR-220
All sorts of softsynths

I know it sounds crazy, but it works for me - for now. Everything I have goes through the patch panel to the mixer. I used the drum samples from the Yamaha PSR-220 on "Broken". For "SEU" I used drum sounds from the DM5 and QS6.1. The guitars on "Broken" used a real strat of some kind direct into the mixer and a guitar sound from the QS6.1 combined together. Other than that, my setup is nothing special.

I am looking to upgrade the computer real soon, though. For whatever reason, I can't get Winxp installed on my system (even though everything says it is compatible), so, I am looking forward to that in the near future. I am also looking forward to some nearfield monitors.

Thanks again for taking the time out listen and critique, hopefully my next offering will be better.

Correction, I ended up not using the actual strat on Broken. I just used the synth patch. I took it out at the last minute...

Very cool tune! I hear the Andreas Vollenwieder kind of sound.
The ONLY thing that I noticed was the hi hat was a little strident. Good tune, good mix.

Thanks Track Rat for checking out the tune! I have a question... What did you mean the hi hat was a "little strident"?

Thanks,

Vice
