alright,
musicians friend is calling it special for recording?? who has tried this sucker?? i'm going to order one if someone likes it. (gc is sold out they can only order it..?) seems pretty cool for what it is. recording is cool. especially if you could get a good studio guitar tone out of a 150$ amp. someone on here told me before that the best guitarists got the best sound out of 20 watt tube combos... i believe ya man

Well, it's true that you don't need an eardrum piercing volume to get a good tone..

I'd be afraid the amp would be kind of a one-trick pony. Of course, I may be very wrong. But it looks like they're trying to sell the replication of the Queen squeal. I'd have to listen to it before I bought it. The little Tech 21 10 watter would probably be much more versatile for recording.

One of the best sounds I ever heard on a recording was through a Marshall 20 Watt Amp. When you listened to the sound and then looked at the amp, it was unreal.

As I recall, Brian May also played through small amps in a live situation and mic'd them through the PA for presence and volume. I saw a photo of him somewhere with a huge stack of amps behind him and the story read that only 4 were actually plugged in.

I don't know about the amp in question, but it might be great for studio work...Bert

I have a 7W Garnet tube amp, and the tone it delivers is un-f***ing believable. I know nothing about the Brian May special (other than seeing it on Vox's website), but if it is the tone you are after, there ain't nothing wrong with a low wattage amp. In fact, they are great for recording and practising because you can get that tone that they only give when they are totally wide open without going deaf

That Vox is on my list now of amps to get when I get some extra cash. Looks very nice. And the output thing, the Treble booster, I like that idea. More bang for the buck.

yeah i think i'm gonna get it. i'll tell you guys what i think and post some clips once i do. the only problem is they're backordered everywhere so iot'd take awhile..
