Breathy violin

While mixing a soft passage I noticed that a solo violin piece has a "breathy" background to it. It was recorded using XPAND. Although I can reduce volume to mask it , I lose the punch of the piece. Any suggestions of what I might have done in the initial recording or tricks to get rid of it?

Do you have a recorded wave file, or a midi track that has xpand on it?

If expand is still in your session, you could choose a different string patch, and if not, you could apply an eq and play with reduce the higher frequencies slightly to taste.

I tried the eq solution but it cuts too much out. It definitely seems to be in the patch itself. No matter what I tweak it's still in there. Thanks for the suggestion. I thought it might be in my midi settings.
