Hey y'all, I am seeking some feedback on the mix of an original song I wrote. This is pretty much the first time I've tried to do this, so it sounds pretty crappy, but I'd like some feedback and direction nonethless.

Here's some info on the tracks:

Drums - I don't have real drums so I have been trying to be resourceful for finding ways to get rhythm tracks. On this one, I "played" it using one of the canned rhythm patterns in my Casio digital piano. It is certainly boring as I am not skilled at inserting fills and such. I am intersted in hearing how you feel the boring drums sound in the mix.

Bass - I played the bass part through the DI in my Eden bass amp. I copied the track in Cakewalk and ran the dup through Amplitube plug-in roughly modeling an Ampeg B15.

Guitar - Contributed by an excellent blues guitarist from Minneapolis. This is a mix of a clean track and a copy of that track through a Rotovibe simulator. Contributed via an internet collaboration.

Vocals - that's me pretending to be a blues singer. I sang into an MXL V57M mic through the preamp in my Yamah mixer. I know I'm not a singer, but I am interested what you think of the use of effects and how it sits in the mix.

Thanks for taking a couple of minutes to check out my song. Peace!

aint good enough

I like it. I listened to 2 times. I like the vocal but I think a little to up front. Turn up the bass just a bit. Sounds nice and open. But thats just me.

I think the vocals are good! They probably do need to come down some, and there's too much reverb. Change that big chapel reverb for something smaller!

And the bass does need to come up.

Good job!

Thanks!... and Mix 2

Thanks for the feedback... I appreciate you taking the time give it a listen. I am getting some BX5 monitors tomorrow (!!!), so I should be able to more clearly understand my mixes. I also received from input from the guitarist and have given it another try. Check it out here:

I pulled the vocals back and changed the reverb space I had it in. I also added a touch to the drums to soften the sampled cymbal sound. bumped teh bass up just a small notch. Let me know how this seems to sound... thanks again!
