Just ordered equipment from Sweetwater around a Tascam DP-24 multitrack digital recorder, so I can begin having some serious fun recording. I was just wondering how I would connect an outboard mic preamp to the Tascam. It doesn't make sense to me to run it into the mic inputs, since the whole point is to bypass the builtin preamps, right?

Dont use the XLR jacks use the 1/4 inch. (You have combo jacks so just use the center 1/4 hole) Output from the mic preamp should be at +4db (pro line level) These are the 1/4 inch jacks. Your TASCAM has +4db line ins so plug it in any of those if the preamp matches +4. (Hopefully your mic preamp output isnt at -10db then you have to do something else. These would look like RCA jacks.) You also have one input jack for an instrument high impedance like a guitar! It has a switch on it. Nice piece of gear I was just reviewing it online.

I just found out that the recorder will not be in stock until the 4th - and so I still have time to fix up the space where my lil studio is going. and I still have time to browse around here and learn some things....
