I have one, and I'm pleased with it. The sound is okay, but what really makes it stand out to me is the fact that its so easy to move files back and forth to my computer.

I am also looking at this unit and have a few questions;

1. Are you using it with a Mac or PC? If Mac, What OS?
2. When recording 2 tracks at once, can you assign amp models or effects to both inputs? Different models to each?
3. How are the built-in drum sounds?
4. Do you have any music posted online that has been recorded on this unit?

Thanks,

Bruce

Bruce, some of the guys over at the vsplanet, www.vsplanet.com use them, and have great sounding tunes. I also heard some good work done on the Zoom recorders too.

Scorpyro, I just posted a question about the 864- from what I have read, it has a mic preamp simulator, is that right? I know it doesn't have phantom power and I wonder how loud you can get the dynamic mic comming in. Is a preamp totally necessary?

Oh Hey Ill answer!

Hey guys unfortunaly/fortunaly I traded a bunch of yunk for a Yamaha AW16G 16 tracks and wav import and sampler, so COOL!
But I did learn plenty when I was shopping the 864.
Like guitar amp modeling the 864 has both the amp models and cosm mic and pre models.
As far as the Mac pc question you may want to e-mail roland tech support to find out the os questions.
As far as I can tell you can asign diferent fx to both ins.
I like the drum sounds and you can import your own samples.
And thats what I know on it.
