BR-1180cd broken

Any advice for fixing the br-1180cd. I was trying to backup my hard drive when it broke on the fourteenth cd. I guess I should of backed up the song after each recording. Is this signs that I need to replace my hard drive. I have to pull out the plug in order to turn it off and it's stuck on the menu screen when you first turn it on. I hope I don't loose all my songs. Any suggestions. Would really hope I can save my music. Do you know if backing up cd-r's uses the hard drive(disk). I know I was running out of space and for some of my recordings were not used on len but mt1 and mt2 to save space. Any suggestions. Thx.

I would guess the hard drive contains both the operating system as well as your song files, so yeah, its needed to back up to CD. Boss charges $75 for repair evaluation, deducted from the repair cost if you ok it. Unfortunately, if its a hard drive failure (not just the related hardware or software), then anything you have on it may be lost.
