BR 1180 vs. 1600

Aside from the number of tracks, is there much difference between the 1180 and 1600? What I dislike about the 1180 is the limited inputs, and no send/return for outboard effects.
 
The 1600 also has a Vocal Tool Box that gives it a bit of an edge over the 1180. It's not just the extra tracks it's the fact that you can do eight simultaneously.
Check out Rolandus.com and the Namm demos and they'll display the differences.
 
Well I just found another drawback to the 1180. Just got off the phone w/ Roland support. I was trying to record 2 mics simultaneously onto 2 seperate tracks -- no can do w/ the 1180. They both go to both tracks.
 
Not true! You can record two mics to two different tracks simultaneously the BR1180. Hey, I've done it.

Do tell. Here's what I'm doing that isn't working:
Connect mics; press both input buttons, observe both red input lights; select tracks 1 & 2; record. But both mics are recordig onto both tracks, and it's not a bleed issue. What am I doing wrong?

I've got the same problem as ValleyArt, I can do a guitar and mic with the simultaneous preset patches but when I said you can't do simultaneous with the 1180 it's that you don't have the amount of inputs the 1180 as the 8 of them on the 1600. The inputs are just not physically there to record several instruments at once.

I'm not complaining about being limited to 2 inputs. Rather, my problem is that with those two inputs, I can't figure out how to simultaneously record them onto 2 seperate tracks.
 
I recorded two mics no problem

I did an XY mic setup overhead for a live acoustic room recording. I had an sm58 and a condenser mic plugged into my dmp3 then into the br1880. I panned them left and right during playback and I have a great sounding stereo field. I was playing lead on one side, and the other side was rhythm. They do record separately. You must be mistaken.
