When trying to bounce MD to 424mk3 , the result played
on an ordinary cassette player is at about 1/2 speed.
I have tried recording at all speeds on the MD deck
(Sony JE440), but results are the same. Anybody else
have this problem? I've about decided to by a sound
card and cd-burner to mix down to, but would like to find out if this MD thing can work or not.

Well.... If your md recorder has rca in's & outs, you should be able to record your mix from your 4-track into the md, then send them back to the recorder stereo, and you'll have two more tracks to play with. try it out--see what happens, if all else fails then your screwed.

i would hope your not, playing your master 4-track tape in an ordinary tape player. Your 4-track is recording & playing at 3 1/2" ips(inches of tape per second going past the rec. heads), and your tape player is playing at 1 7/8ips. Therefore, you have to MIX your 4-track master to your tape recorder. see what happens.

Just set your 424mk3 to 3 1/2 (or "normal" speed). It has a switch on the back.

It works! Just had to switch back to normal speed
when bouncing back to 4 track. Thanks for the help,
now I've got to learn how to make it sound a little less
like a cat screaming when you step on its' tail. Thanks
again.
