bought qtc40 used, damaged?

I just bought a qtc40, I tested it at the guys place to see that it's not compeletly broken. I'm sorta nervous though, the guy said he bought it new, has only used it like twice, but it took him like 15 minutes because he couldn't figure how to work it, but claims he's spent 40,000 on recording gear but has it all in storage, records nature sounds, birds,etc. He wasn't using a pop filter either. I took the risk though.

how can I find out the mics condition? will they tell if I take it to a GC? I got it for $550.

You are lucky because Earthworks has some of the best customer support of any company around. While I would guess that your mic wouldn't be under warranty, I bet if you call them up they would be willing do a complete check-up of your mic for a very nominal fee.

And no, don't take it to Guitar Center. Almost assuredly there is no one there that can fix a microphone.
 
i'm loving this mic so much. the difference between this and v67g is huge.

A lot more than I expected from that website with samples, and a guy and gal singing about you love me, i love you something.
