does anybody have any idea as to what guitar/effects/amps and stuff were used on boston's more than a feeling?? Just curious. thanx.

No specific idea, but Tom Shultz is famous for the fact that he has always built his own amps and effects. The specific models on at least some of them would be imposible to get. The Rocktron stuff that he designed might help though.

Les Paul Goldtop (with P90s, or some variation thereof), a Scholz Rockman, and probably a marshall Plexi.

You can get the same sound with an LP and just about any Marshall.

The Rockman did not exist at that time. Sholtz used a drop resistor box to cut the output of his Marshall 100 watt amp. This is the "secret" to his sound along with some delay, chorusing and compression. The "Rockman" came years later to mimick his sound.

basically, the resistor box he used, became his "Power Soak" product....

i used to own one.

the first album really had the definitive sound, because it was a real amp pushing real speakers through a real microphone.

everything after that was the little black box.
