That is nice. The guitars and flute mesh together like they're one instrument. I have a version of "Besame Mucho" that reminds me of this. Very sweet.

All of it sounds well played, and recorded. It's very beautiful sounding. I could listen to this all day.

Thank you for sharing. :)

Thanks for the help...I get it now
Blacko= Black Orpheus.
duh....
What make/ model guitar did you use and Mic while we're on the subject??
chazba

Rami, PrettyWoman – Glad you liked it. Thanks for posting.

chazba – It’s a Fred Clarke gtr (a little known builder) and a Schoeps mk41 mike about 3 ft from the bridge.

Timothy,

Wow, that is amazing! I really like the whole feel of that piece and, as stated before, I can't wait to hear the whole piece. You really are gaining a mastery for recording guitar, and I love the dtail your are getting. Thanks for sharing!

Ditto....Aint it great when someone achieves balance between Instrument chops and recording chops...

I think it is great, played well, recorded equally as well. I am going to be the fly in the oinment and state that I think musically, there are too many guitar things happening, and it sounds overdubbed and cluttered. Mainly because the guitars all have the same sound, although they do a [half]decent job of staying out of the way of each other. But I think that quality also has to do with their relative volumes to each other. They almost need to be separated more by either playing "less" in certain areas, more extreme panning (which really isn't a good cure), sound difference, or potentially in different octaves to a larger degree.

Actually, after spouting all that rubbish, I think what is happening, is the guitars are talking with each other, but forgot the flute is playing too.
I think the bass and flute parts are "less filling" as compared to all the action the guitars are doing, making it sound like a guitar fest, which is not what I think you were going after, nor what the song needs. Let the different parts shine in their moments, but not all at once.

Rick and chazba - I appreciate it.

mixmkr - Hey thanks, glad you commented. Can't disagree with any of the arrangement comments and I very much appreciate the detailed listening. Using different gtrs for the parts would have been good definitely for a realistic combination. chazba commented similarly re the arrangement a few posts back, to which I said:

This is really just a “sonority test” to dial in the gtr tone, and I agree that it’s too busy, given the laid-back genre... They’ll all be taking turns in the “real” arrangement.
I should have mentioned that in the orig post. And it's probably better even in a soundcheck kind of thing like this to thin it down to a tasteful gtr line instead of packing every lick I could come up with into one verse, so point taken.

Anyway, I'm going to send off the files to Tonio tonight and hopefully he won't take as long to do his final mix as I took to do my part.

s'all been said really tim... clean, professional recording, great performance an a lovely piece of music too.

Love this song Tim. It is rich and enchantingly leading, to the swaying of hips...simple steps forward and back, while intimately caressing one's own tummy....other hand outstretched in an elegant wave of movement, like that of a flowing banner of soft cloth in the air. :D

Kudos Tim and Tonio.

Tim...thank you for the song that moved True to type these words above, I'm feeling funny in my pants now  :D

warmth, bigbubba – thanks for listening and the great comments.

jpw23 – You’re welcome. Anything for the greater good, man.

Thanks auto. I think the bass might have been done on a keyboard (dunno, since I only tracked the gtrs)... but the flute and percussion are real.

I'm probably going to be the only one who thinks this-but-great melodic performances, excellent recording and mixing aside-I find the percussion to be stiff in comparison to the "fluidity" of the track.

I didn't get that impression myself, especiall with the congas. The shakers on the right though are very metronomic. Appreciated the listen marvkan.

Freudian Slip - thanks for checking it out.

after a few mp3's tonight I had thought maybe I left the mixer in Mono or there was some distortion going on in my system! whew!

very well done.

only negatives I can think of is I couldn't hear the vocalist much.
