Hey guys,

First time poster but long time aspirant to get into home recording. I always lament that I don't have an effective way to document some of the ideas that I have when I'm oot and aboot and not somewhere that I have access to a musical instrument.

So I hopped over to Guitarcenter.com and saw this little doodad and I thought it had many features that interested me: (link at bottom)

  • Compact in size
  • Beefy in features
  • Multi-level play-back capabilities
  • Portable

I've always wanted a loop station but have never been able to get one to this point, and so I was wondering if maybe I could kill two birds with one stone (at the expense of having a real Loop Station for the time being).

Any personal experiences, reviews, or general thoughts on this piece of gadgetry?

--Apparently I can't post links right away so I'll ask a little bit of investigative homework here. The device is the Boss MICRO BR Digital Recorder and I was looking at it on Guitar Center's website. If you go to the "Recording" section of their website it's right there on display as an ad first thing you see.

I have the next Boss machine up the ladder (the BR-600 eight track} and I love it.

The built-in mics sound great, there's no moving parts and it's built very well.

The Micro BR is similarly well built, also has no moving parts and I'm sure the built-in mic is quite adequate for general recording. It very well thought out and ruthlessly functional.

It won't exactly take the place of a looper pedal, but I see many looper pedals for sale on my local craigslist every day and wonder if the owners were looking for something else when they bought, for example, an RC-20.

I've had a very good experience with my Boss multi tracker and recommend you try one and see if you like it. If you order one mail order --- Link --- you can escape paying local sales tax and it comes with a 30-day no questions asked refund policy so you have a whole month to see if you like it.

Scientist,

Thanks for the input! I'm planning on heading to the store today to get some hands-on with one if I can. Sounds like this may be right up my alley. Also, the link you provided doesn't work!

Thanks again.
