Boss Dr5 confusion!

Hello all, I new to the forum, I am having a problem with my Dr 5 in regards to internal memory. When I create a pattern is there any way to confirm that it is saved, because each time i turn off the unit it erases all my stuff the next time I power on. Could I perhaps be using the presets? If so what patterns do not hold presets, or do you need external memory. the users manual is pretty vague on both what preset patterns and whether or not you can save, let alone how too. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Does it have an internal battery?It could need changing.

Ya, the DR-5 will only save created patterns and songs if the batteries are in and juiced.
