Anybody had any experience with this device?

I got it for my birthday the other day, for the last few months I've been exploring various free software programs etc. to try and record my music. After a limited amount of success I obtained this and I'm wondering where to begin with it.

The manual is packed full of information that I haven't really got the time to read at the moment! It sounds like a great device but I'm wondering whether it's really going to allow me to create a decent, professional (as professional as is possible for a product like this) sound from my recordings.

It's got a built in touch sensitive drum pad, and you can upload your own drum sounds to create a custom drum kit. It all sounds very promising but still, I don't know where to begin!

Any help or experienced advice would be appreciated.

Spend an hour reading the manual, its worth it! An hour now will save you many hours later. You do have to think and plan on what you are doing because you can only bounce/mix-down from 8 tracks (two are stereo, so its really 6 tracks) to 1 stereo track at a time.
I have not used the drum pads, but do use the built-in rhythm machine.
You judge the overall sound for yourself on my myspace, all these songs were done on the BR600: http://www.myspace.com/mikebirchmusic
