As someone who is new to the whole recording game, would Bose Ae2 headphones suffice as at least decent tracking headphones? I think they sound great on all songs I listen to with them, but would they be alright for tracking?

Thanks!

Headsets like that usually colour the sound top much! The speaker aren't as neutral as you'd like them to be!

For tracking they might work. Depends on how much noise leaks out of them. You don't wnat to bleed over into the mic. Hold the headphones in your hands. Put the two cups together so they seal against each other and play some songs loud. If you can hear the song, then they won't work for tracking. If not, then you're good to go.

For tracking purposes, you really don't need quality headphones, just headphones that don't leak. If your recording environment is noisy enough to warrant noise cancelling headphones, then you're recording in bad spot and need to find a quieter place.

If you already own the headphones and want to use them for tracking, that's good so long as they won't bleed into the mic. If you want to buy them for tracking, then spend your money elsewhere.

Lastly, do not use them for mixing.

BTW, Sennheiser HD-202's are great for tracking.
