Books (highly recommended/ very informative)

I don't believe it's overlooked, though technology has changed enough to date some of the books available. While I have no knowledge of any current books for those unfamiliar with home recording, I'm sure someone here may have an answer.

I can say that this website has some really impressive individuals that constantly offer their knowledge. If you pose the question nicely, and your question is somewhat specific, you will most likely get a useful response. If you use what you find here along with some trial-and-error at home, you might find what works best for you in some cases.

Much of what you ask can be searched-for and found here if you use the "Search" function. I'm only suggesting that if you haven't done it already.
 
I find that Guerilla's Guide to HR has some great tracking tips.
 
Mixing With Your Mind

I learnt a lot from this book called Mixing With Your Mind by Michael Stavrou or Stav as he's known in his articles in the magazine Audio Technology
 
The mixes that I do with my mind are highly impressive to one and all.
The mixes I do in the real world...........aren't.
