It's not that great of a mic, and yes the pop filter is almost useless.

I haven't recorded with everything around but I've used AT3035 AT4047 Rode K2 and that same Blue Baby Bottle. All of them with the Focusrite Twintrak Pro Channel Strip and I have to say that I liked the sound of the Baby Bottle the best. If you got a good preamp you will get a good clean crisp sound.

So I am wondering why you said that its not that great of a mic?

If a blue bottle makes me sound like dylan... I don't want one.

I bet every darn one of you would be nicer than hell to him if you met him and - although I'm sure you won't admit it - would give your left leg to have sang like he sang back in the day, or to have written what he wrote. His voice is distinct, in tune (at least on his studio albums... haha) and I sure would love to sound like him. Maybe not so much how he sounds now, but back in the day... oh my, yes sir.

And yeah, I hate Apple and I don't like it when people do ads, but hey, who am I to judge? I have yet to have had a huge bag of money dropped in front of me. Like someone else said, Dylan's his own guy and he's going to do what he wants. More power to him.

Sorry, my Dylan-worship is getting out of hand. I sure do like his voice though. :D

he is a hypocrite. says modern recordings suck, sound"thin" and then shows up on TV hawking one of the enemies to fidelity.

and I HATE HATE HATE his voice. I love his lyrics, and would love to read them as just poetry without the loud bad harmonica and guitars in the background.

Good point. That is pretty damn contadictory.

His voice still sounds damn good to me though. Check out 'The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll', 'Corrina, Corrina', or maybe 'You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go.' Admittedly, it's not technically 'good', but it sounds pretty darn sweet to me. Anyway, this topic has been done to death. At the same time, this is the wrong forum for me to go on and on about his voice. Maybe I'll go back in time and take a Blue Bottle with me so that he can sing these songs through it. Then perhaps my comments will have some relevance within the context of this thread, ha ha. :o

You would too for what they paid him. But he's right. Is there ONE major modern band out there today that is making music that actually says something worthwhile in Rock? There are plenty of good bands but for the most part they are just entertainers.

i just love how bad he sounds haha. there are a ton of great song writers who have terrible voices i.e. tom waits, leonard cohen. maybe i'm just crazy but i love that kind of voice that just sounds messed up, it makes the recording more human i think. but again, maybe im just crazy.
