Yes fat_fleet. I recorded this one like that too. One drum element at a time. I'm not good enough on the drums to play all of them as a drum kit performance. My best friend and drummer for decades could knock stuff like this out in his sleep but sadly he can't play anymore because he has terminal lung cancer. The last time he came to my studio a few weeks ago...he could still play. He Loved this arrangement and tune. He told me "man, I would have loved to have played drums in that but you did good. I said " well, let's record you. I'll mute my half assed drum attempt. He did a pass that was killer with the exception of the end where it just hangs on the verse riff with the lead guitar and fades. He did the kick to go back into the chorus. He said "let me do that over again". he did another pass and dropped a stick. He said "man, I'm like ginger baker now, you're gonna have to duct tape the sticks in my hand...man this bass drum is wearing me out. I'm getting jelly legged" He said "let me do it again" He got off tempo and dropped a stick again. He said "man, the chemo is zapping all my stamina. I feel like I've played 4 sets and taken a Qualude. Let me.come back one morning when I'm fresh and do it"
It never happened....that was it. His drum playing days were over.
The sad thing is, like a total idiot, I recorded over each previous pass with the next performance instead of saving all 3 performances. I could have taken that first killer drum performance and cut and paste the ending from the second one.
one of those moments where I said to myself "Next time.I won't be so stupid"
I didn't realize there would be no next time.
I blew recording the last time he ever sat behind his drum kit and played.
Sorry to ramble on but I really love that guy and blowing that recording really bothers me.

Sucks jimi. Don't beat yourself up about the recording stuff tho.

Hey I heard this one a while back. I enjoyed it then and now as well. The mix may not be done yet but it still smokes. The lead is tasty and slightly reminiscent of some BB stuff. Vocals are excellent and despite the center-ish mix they sit nicely on top with a nice forward mid sound. There's a cool riffing going on it some spots that sounds like a growling bass not sure what it is but is grinds really nicely.
Good luck with your recovery !!! :D:D:D:D

Edit - and this is better than the original (better groove) BD's was probably one of only a couple of of his tunes that I really got into mainly because I'm not a folky.

Even if I don't get my tracks straightened out I will more than likely revisit this one a do it justice.
