aw man,

get out the moonshine......

this sounds like something I'd listen to boiling crawfish.......

very good playing , boys.....how was this recorded?.......there are a few places where some instruments just jump in that could use a bit of compression/limiting to pull it down.......but thats about all i could find to nit-pick......

this one has a great, authentic feel:)

my brother's a bluegrass banjo player.......i'll have to play this one for him.........the vocal gets a little buried at times......other than that, sounds great

Gidge, thanks. Let's see. jerry came over (rare, that he does), and perry (who I forgot to plug) on bass. I was excited about jerry being there. he's an original member of the spencer hill band and did most of the lead vocals. Anyway, I just set up both the v67s in front of us about 4 feet away. The bass is just picking up thru both mics from the amp, which is about 10 feet away. The mics are running thru a blue tube and into the 788. And we just played. I got about 10 tunes that night, complete with missed words, chords, and instructions being yelled out every now and then. he he he he. Some of the tunes I hadn't done in years. Then a few days later watt came by and we put the mando and fiddle on some of the tunz. And for some unknown reason last week I got into picking the old banger, and after a couple days of practice (damn my fingers hurt) I put the banger on 5-6 tunz. This one was kinda the best of the bunch. And yes, perry and I were drunk. jerry don't drink no more. But we were all getting very "cloudy". he he he he. I really didn't think I'd get much of a sound, but it turned out ok, so I saved it, and burnt a cd for jerry and his wife.

pw, thanks man. If yo bro is a REAL bluegrass banger player he'll get a good laugh outa this.

fine pickin. I like it when everybody gets joined up and it gets real thick in the 2nd verse. You aint a bad banjo picker at all :) . That's always looked hard as hell to me.

thanks Toki987, yeah, it took a while. he he he. To get the tune rolling. And I like screwing around with the banjo, every now and then. But my playing style, being very basic and self taught, doesn't hold up on it's own. When I play alone it really sucks. But kinda works with some noise to go with it. And I don't know if it can be considered hard. Real banjo players tell me it's like everything else. Start at the beginning and practice. I don't have the patience or will at my age to start over. So I kinda got my own little "styles", and have some fun with it. Of course, I guess that holds true for all the instruments I play.

Thanks for the listen.

I love listening to bluegrass; but I can't play it worth a crap! Ride 'em banjo......yeah, lets have more of that aroung 2:30....very cool. I love live recordings a lot and I really like the fact that you'll leave talking and stuff on the recordings. For my taste, you could even leave a bit more of it.

What kind of banjo do you play? Back in the days of country-rock; I worked for a guy that built custom banjos. Well, build is a slight exxageration since on banjos you buy all the tone-rings and hardware and even the resonator. But we picked the stuff out and he did the assembly and finish work and I did a lot of the pearl inlay work. Anyway, I'm curious about your ax.

Lt. dude, I'm loading a guitar tune right now. But anyway. Shit, I'm a little "cloudy". I aquired this Sigma banger a couple years ago on a trade for an old motorcycle that my wifes bro gave me. I wouldn't ride the bitch if someone paid me. But I think I got the better of the deal. From the same Sigma that Martin does. Stays in tune, good action, and loud in person. If'in you read the other posts you'll know my style is my own, and really doesn't sound good alone. But ok with the boys strumming along. It's got to be fun to do stuff like you speak of, with the inlay, and constructing a musical instrument.

thanks for the listen, friend.

Bluegrass roxxors :D

Some pretty good picking in there (far better than I can do). Sounds really good. I would like to hear the vocal a little more.

Keeper for me :D
