mmoa,
Never used the Mouse but I have the Dragonfly, great on vocals and acoustics.
Extremly well built,by hand, and you can talk to Skipper Wise at Blue if you have a problem, great guy.

All the Blue stuff is top of the line.

Iv'e read some people prefer the Dragonfly over the Mouse for vocals.
They also have the Bluberry and the new Baby Bottle which is less than half the price of the Mouse.

If you search here you will find threads on all their mics-

I also have a test mp3 on the web site I'm putting together where you can hear the Dragonfly.
Nothing fancy, just an old recording I used to test a dobro.
Everything is through the Dragonfly-

Good luck,

Muzeman!

That's a great rendition of Amazing Grace! I love the guitar work and that Blue mic sounds awesome! What mic pre are you using?

I can definately hear that as a very emotional track from a movie. Maybe a Natural Born Killers kinda thing? Your version has that kind of haunting sound to it.

I know this isn't the mixing clinic, but I had to say something.

lunatic,
Wow dude, you just made my millineum!
Thanks very much for the compliment.
I never post in the clinic because my voice is lame, but you got me goin.
Mabey I'll have to be brave and give it a try.
I'd really like to get some mixing advice from everyone over there.

I use a DBX mini pre.
The Dragonfly is my best piece of equippment and well worth it.
Awsome mic.

Thanks again,
Pete

Muze-y,

You are most welcome. Give the clinic a try. You might be surprised ;) Of course, this is coming from a guy who has yet to post more than one recording in there  so take it for what it is worth :)

So, THAT'S what the DBX mini pre sounds like. I've been wondering.

Keep up the good work, man!

-Peace

FZmontanaDF,
Thanks for the compliment,I really appreciate it.

lunatic,
The DBX is really cool for the price.
I'm trying right now to get an account with one of the free sites,
iuma looks the best, but I couldn't get it to go through.

Do either of you of you guys post anywhere?

Thanks,
Pete

Muze,

The only thing I've ever posted, so far, is a recording of a friend's daughter playing piano. When the time comes to start posting my stuff, I'll probably put it up on my own website.

I gotta get me one of those DBX pres.

-Peace

I thought the guitar sound was great. It's nice to know that you don't need a billion dollar pre to put down a killer track.

Your voice is fine, you could project a little more, but maybe that's not your style. At any rate, don't let insecurity stop you from belting 'em out.

Emeric,
Thanks for the tip.
I'm already registerd at Nowhere, but am having problems with it.
Can't get all the functions to work,I think they are updating their server so I'll keep checking.
Definatly a cool site.

lunatic,
The DBX is definatly in the best bang for the buck category.
Let me know if you post anything,I'd like to hear it.

jet-rocker,
Thanks for the compliment,It's much appreciated.
The DBX is great for a small home studio like mine.
I use a 4 track and small mixer, and the DBX let's me free up the mixer for monitoring and mixdown without having to repatch.

I know I have a problem projecting, can't seem to do it with playback through headphones.

I was trying to setup recording both acoustic and vocals at the same time,Harvey as always was a great help.
Can't decide though on which way to go with it without spending a ton of money.

Do I use the Blue on vocals and get a 603 for guitar, use the Blue on guitar and get a supercardioid for vocals,or do I get a C-1 and use it on one with the Blue on the other.
Know what I mean?
I can't afford another mic like the Blue,I got it by lucky trading, and if I get the wrong mic I'm stuck with it.
Oh well I'll figure it out someday.

Thanks,
Pete

Has anyone tried the BLUE MOuse on vocals?
What did you think

I was tracking some vocals this weekend. A/B'd the Mouse with a U87. For this situation, in this room, with this singer..the mouse was not very good for that application. The U87 had a bigger sound, much fuller..the mouse sounded kinda choked.

I did use the mouse on bass and acoustic guitar though..absolutly stunning!!

This is embarrasing. But as an absolute beginner trying to sort out budget mics, mixers and the recording of vocals and acoustic guitars...what is a blue mouse, what does it do and how much does it cost? Thanks. - Mike.

Hey, you stole my name!!

Blue Mouse is a microphone, an expensive one at that. I read a really favorable article on it in Recording Magazine a couple of years ago.

Jag this is a really cool tune, I like it a lot, except for the damn untuned-radio-frequency-thingy going on in the back ground. Who's idea was that? (someone get a rope!) I found it distracting from an otherwise really good tune. And thanks for letting me hear the Blue Mouse!
