any comments on this mic? sound samples? common uses of it? im curious, thinking of investing in one for guitar cab.

Costs more than the Bluebird or the Blue Bottle, very sensitive with low self noise, but......
That's a lot of mic just for a guitar amp.......that's a lot of $$$$$$ just to mic a cab.
Why not use a standard dynamic cardioid thats made for cabs, like a ND468?? Then spend the other $500 on a trip to Maine??

what is your opinion on the md441 by sennheiser? i've heard that was a great mic for a cab. is it worth the extra dough?

Only if you already have every other mic you could possibly want and you just want to buy one more mic for the hell of it.......

Try the ND468 first, if you dont like it then buy the big gun.....
Heck, for that kind of $$$$$$ you coudl get the ND468, RE20, and MD421 and still have $50 bucks leftover for steak dinner!

The 441 is an excellent guitar cab mic. It is also an excellent vocal mic. It has qualities and flexibilty that are not present in less expensive mics. The 5 position bass roll off switch makes it a very useful tool. It also rocks anywhere on the drum kit

If it fits your budget, jump on it. Kenny is right, it's an EXCELLENT mic, you cant go wrong.

i love my dragonfly. it's excellent on guitar cabinet, but i find myself using other mics for that purpose more often than the dfly. my e609 and V77 find a lot more use on cabs.....although you really can't shake a stick at the dfly on the right cab.
the dfly is also excellent on some acoustic guitars, some mandolins, some vocals......but the key is "some". the dfly is a VERY particular mic about the source, and even more so about placement. i would not call the dfly an "all arounder".

I love this mic. I think it's more versatile than others think. However, it's a bright flavor with a complex high end you just do not get with low priced bright mics.
I limit its use to acoustic guitar and vocals. Some people use pairs for overheads.
