Blue Bear Sound - Recommendation

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to recommend Blue Bear Sound for mixing. I have had my last 2 songs mixed by him and he is a true professional. These songs came out better than anything I could've dreamed of doing. He is extremely professional and I finally feel that I have achieved my major label sound which I have been on a quest for a LONG TIME. His prices are by far the most reasonable I've seen for a professional. If you feel you are quite at that pro sound you've been looking for, professional mixing is where it is at if you have good tracks. NEXT, once our album is done, I am going to try professional mastering as I've always done home mastering. I can't wait to hear the results. By the way, if you listen to the tracks, they have home mastering because I will eventually get the pro mastering done once the whole album is done.

Links not working for me. The first song tries to download, then I get a "broken" Quicktime logo. The second one does nothing at all.
 
I've worked on a few projects Bruce has mixed... One that he mixed several songs on a particular release - His mixes stood out SO far over the ones that the artist mixed locally that I hardly touched them (Bruce's mixes) during the mastering session. Good ear, good gear, good guy. Even though he's Canadian. :eek:

Gotta say the same about Farview as long as we're at it - Jason is somewhat local and we have a history (my disclaimer) but I've worked several "home brewed" projects that he had a hand in either tracking OR mixing. Comparing them to the original recordings... You'd never know it was the same band.

I wish more people would employ their type to collaborate on projects from a creative standpoint...

Dude, you are a fucking God! And you're, what, 21? I must say I've never been a huge fan of the Vai/Satch genre, but your licks are amazing. Arpeggio Autopsy II smokes anything I have ever heard from Vai or Satch, musically, if not technically. I like your band's tunes as well.

I haven't noticed any of your posts before, but I've got to put your site on here for others to see. Very strong. Very impressive.

Just kidding. I have not yet heard any of Bruce's actual work (no time to D/L at the moment), but if he walks the walk anywhere near the way he talks the talk, he's the real deal.

Thanks a lot. I really appreciate it. I hang out on these forums often just reading and reading the information. I also am at the Sonar forums because that is the platform I use.

The old stuff on my site is really funny to listen to now that I look back (I recorded it all by myself with sonar 2.2 back when I was lik 16-18.) Pretty horrible sound quality but good songs. My 2 newest, eternal promise and arpeggio autopsy II are good sound quality wise and my best written songs but I wanted to go mainstream in an attempt to become successful thus I created a band that could go mainstream.

I will still continue with the instrumental guitar too its just I've been focusing greatly on recording the band's material and trying to really make it somewhere.
 
That's cool to hear about Blue Bear. His posts are always pretty well inform, so it does not suprise me that his work is great.
 
Ah,...a Man after my own heart!! You don't hear to much of that stuff anymore! ( unless you're listening to me play :p - Old school shreader my self.......although not as fast as I once was :( )

I definitely like the playing. It's technically very proficient, but I don't think you can compare that type of playing with Steve or Satch. Neither one of them pick everything like this kid does. By they way have you ever heard Steve Vai live? He's damn near perfect every night. Not to mention he plays the right note for the song every time. I digress...

I think this is a good example of the synergistic / symbiotic way in which a musician can effectively make a home studio project work for them.

Develop your tracking chops, and get your equipment up to a level where decent tracks can be cut ... then have an objective ear assemble and make sense of them all on a quality monitoring system, in to something resembling a finished product, utilizing their expertise and experience in a highly-controlled mixing environment.

This is the way a lot of stuff is being done these days, and it's nice to see people utilizing such a system effectively. Cheers.
 
and after listening to the before and after....i'm surprised no one has asked it yet, but....what all did ya do to it Bruce? just curious as to what steps you usually do when you get someone else's recording.

It's good to see other folks discovering Bruce's talent. I have also worked with him. Great guy, great engineer.
 
Oh yeah - very much improvement on the mixes by Blue Bear - takes the songs to a whole next level! Nice playing too! ;)
 
Ryan - Great song! You obviously gave Bruce a lot to work with. The finished product is a testimonial to Bruce's unwavering position on buying the best gear and learning how to get the most out of it. You wanted that 'professional sound' and you definitely got it! Great job all around! :)
