i saw one in guitar center not long ago and it looks really cool in the ringer shock mount they make but..... is the mic any good for vocals? my band has fallen into a pattern of liking goofy shaped gear for some reason... and that ball is one goofy shaped mic.... but is it a hunk a junk like the blue ball?

Blue 8-ball

I've been satisfied with BLUE's stuff - - - Couldn't be worse than a SM58.

This isn't you - - is it?

That guy performs in San Francisco right? I've seen him there before heh.
I used to do some contract computer work there in San Francisco.

yeah that guy i think does a show that i work at in Cincinnati once a year....

any way the Blue Ball i have heard people say it sucks for vocals but.... the 8 Ball seems to be thought to be a better mic however i do not know anybody with one of them.... it really looks cool in its shockmount! but what does it sound like? will it work for vocals? is it any good on guitars? what about on a Violin? dumb questions that i have not found anything about on other places...

Do a search, I remember about a year ago somebody posted a clip of a female vocal. It was very breathy, but sounded pretty cool. Could be good for a vocal where you want that exaggerated high sound.

thats just the thing i DON'T want to have on my recordings!

i hate that high treble hype crap on a mic thats what i thought i would hear about it... oh well i guess we are back to using a Nady Ribbon or something for the girls.... one of the girls needs a really warm dark mic for her voice while the other one could get away with something much brighter if we wanted it, thats why i still have my AT4040.

I posted a female vocal.. It sucked on my voice.. but It was beautiful on hers.

Do you own an Oktava MK-319, by chance? You really should.

In the Blue line, the only one of their mics that doesn't exhibit a lot of high end exaggeration is the Baby Bottle.

That's a cembalom isn't it? It looks more elaborate than a hammered dulcimer. Having hammers on each finger is pretty freaky.

At last!

I had always wondered what would be the best amp would be to play dulcimer on a street corner. I can just imagine adjusting the polepieces on the pickups for that thing.

And it's on a street corner for god's sake...... how the hell does he move it around.....

I understand that guy that plays the bulleyes strat through the marshall mini amp for pockect change, that seems mobile enough.......
