Hey guys. My Rectoverb head pooped out (just went quiet). I pulled the fuse and it has a brown ring around it (blown, yes?). I read that this could be a power tube gone bad. Is that neccessarily true, or could it just be the fuse? How do I tell if a power tube is blown?

Thanks for any advice,

-Aaron.

Just put in a new fuse first and then get back to us. Were there any other symptoms leading up to this or did it just "blow"?

hey
when my trip rect head was shipped one of the tubes became loose and i blew 4-5 fuses before i figured it out..make sure they are all seated correctly . there IS a correct way for them to seat in place .

Hey Jamal. Power tube? I'll check that they are all in snug.

Cheers

YEAH ...well my amp has like 12 tubes in it ...im sure it was one of them :o ..not sure what it does ..but it had a cracked plastic housiong from me trying to insert it the wrong way ..i got it to ..lol...and once i turned it the right way it still worked...i have since replaced it ...but yeah ..no harm in checking ..might be a quick fix :)

I replaced the fuse and it blew again immediately. I checked the tubes and they are all secure.

Any suggestions?

I wouldn't see it for years!

Anyway - I will try replacing the power tubes.

I pulled the power tubes and one of the sockets where the tube goes in has a pretty bad scorch/ burn mark on it. It may be worse than I thought!
