I was recording some vocal and guitar demos of songs, just to see how they sounded, and I found out that if I turned the pre-amp all the way up on the channel my MD421 was plugged into on my 388's mixer section the mic becomes almost an omni. Especially in my little lounge. Is that unusual?
Not at all. Cardiod mics don't pick up well from the sides or rear but they do pick it up. If you have the gain cranked you just hear more of what's there.
