I'm not sure that this question goes here but I don't know where else it goes......

I'm going to be burning some demo cd's (on my home computer) for submission to various venues and music festivals. I don't need to save 50 cents per cd if it will make a difference. I'm looking in the FullCompass catalogue and I see HHB, Maxell, Quantegy and TDK. I also see descriptions like "silver, branded package" and "white ink printable 12X".

Please help me decide what to choose...

Branded means that there is writing on the top side, it will say 'TDK' and some lines to write info in. The printable ones have a white, 'paper white' layer on the top side so they can be printed on, using a cd-printer. As for which to go for, depends. Are you going to bring them somewhere to be printed on? If not you can skip the white ones. If the 'TDK' or 'Maxell' or whatever label on the 'branded' ones is a concern, than go with unbranded ones.

As far as quality differences between them all - there is. I can only say which ones I've had sucess with, they may not apply in your situation though. Mitsui Silvers, TDK Silvers and Kodak Golds. BASF silvers are ok to. I'd get the mid priced ones. Not super expensive, but not bottom of the barrel generic either. I bought some cheapo Mitsuko media awhile ago. Every other audio cd I burned had skips throughout the songs. Data however, burned fine on them.

You may want to get one of those CD-Stomper kit's. You can print your own label and than adhere it to the CD using the stomper. Than maybe instead of using a jewel case, use those clear plastic cases. Might look cooler anyway.

Yes and easier to mail too.

I get my CD's from Mar's Music. They sell a 10 pack with cases for $8. Brandname "Microboards".

I am confused about CD's though. I tried Maxell's first but they wouldn't burn on my Teac 4X12. Seems I need "pro" quality yet I have musician friends that burn on commercial CD's with cheaper burners and they seem to be happy.

I haven't really A-B'd the CD's for quality but could someone clear up my confusion?
