Ill take the wall wart if it means they dont gotta up the price to get a good psu tucked inside!

Yeah I'm not a big fan of wall warts but they are usually picked to save money.

I'm not a fan either, but the theory is that by removing the power supply out of the actual unit you reduce transformer induced electrical noise. Also by having a separate power supply you can sell to anywhere in the world and just change the wall wart to suit the mains voltage.
This looks like a nice unit.
