I gotta go with AC/DC and I stand confident on that one cause the guitars don't sound like they were tracked and stacked fourteen times to sound that big. If you wanna talk metal, I'll take Meshuggah.

Van Halen
Mountain
Jimi
Blue Cheer
Black Sabbath (particularly "Live at Last" now reissued as half of "Past Lives"

Oh....

LINK WRAY circa 1958

Van Halen

I think Van Halen's sound isn't dangerous at all, he has nice distortion, but all the phaser/flanger/chorus/wish washy crap really gets annoying, and takes away any edge to the sound.

I respectfully disagree. D.O.A. is downright angry sounding.

The Biggest most dangerous guitar sound I ever heard is on the song "To bring you my love" by PJ Harvey I belive it's off of Rid of Me but I can't be sure. There is this chord that is struck once may-be twice that is the most gigantic thing I have ever heard. It will Knock you to the floor.

Fear Factory

You can't tell me anyone really has a more biting evil tone than Dino Cazarez. It just goes so well with Raymond Hererra's doublebass technique, which is just insane.

No one has mentioned Zakk or how about Nuno ( from the Extreme Days) you are talking about guitar tone not how the band sounds right? Because live both of them sound awsome!!!

I think I will agree with the earlier mention of "Heartwork" by Carcass.
Super Heavy and widely accepted (at least at one time) as the holy grail of tone in the underground metal community.

luckily,

Meshuggah has a new album out so this thread can be closed. Purely soundwise ((although they smoke most in technique to) that is.

Have fun playing AC/DC grandpa.

I think the most dangerous sound is the one coming from bands of the 80's that had 5 high 4x12 cabinets, one of those could fall on you and really hurt.

nope. cuz they were dummy cabs... you could lift all five by yourself ;)

too bad christian took up guitar for fear factory. that guy's a retard, thinking a reverse headstock on his jackson will give him more string tension. and i hate their fans too. a bunch of narrow-minded douchebags.

Im torn between two worlds with Angus Young and Malcolm Youngs sound on the "Back in Black" album amongst others and James Hetfield and Kirk Hammets guitar sound on their ''Black" album (Sad But True) is particulary ''FAT"

I love both, seen em both live, great shows! ;)

Illdisposed with their chunky in your face 7-strings. Beats the hell out of Korns sound.

I haven't heard Illdisposed since Death is just the beginning III.
They're still doing it though, huh?

I've been listening to "Revelation of Black Moses" by Vader, and "As above, so below" from Behemoth. I have garnered much wood from these two. I love polish death/black metal :D

Oh yeah, a third for Carcass. IMO, many good tones, even on Tools of the Trade, which is less than stellar recording quality, and of course Heartwork....

Sorry to hear that pal....

I'm a big fan of change and I'm not a real huge fan of them where I'm gonna have to be worried with what they think is gonna help them achieve a certain sound. I'm not really with you on your douchebags statement. Most narrow-minded people that I know like to exclude large groups of information or stimuli based on a very small exposure to something similar. It's really cool how we can exchange opinions on this messageboard with a basic understanding of humor and sarcasm being a regular thing. But, hey! They're on tour with Megadeth and Dillinger Escape Plan. I'm gonna try my damndest to get into that show! I've never seen Dillinger Escape Plan live, and I've been meaning to.

I voted for AC/DC but if Tom Verlaine in Television was an option I would've had some thinking to do. Then again the drum sound sucks on most Television stuff so that makes the guitar sound good just in comparison.
