big vocal sound

im using conderser mike for good clean vocal w/touch of reverb ((sonar) but i need a big vocal sound for one song how does sting or phill collens sound big and more importantly how can i approach the big sound. Note: more reverb just sound like a tin can

Record the vocal twice in perfect unison. Pan the two tracks hard left and right. You will be very suprised how big and deep it will sound if the tracking is consistent.
 
Another trick is to duplicate the vocal track and zoom all the way in. Nudge one track off a little bit. Listen. Keep nudging up to the point where you hear it phase. Pan both channels opposite of each other. You can also pitchshift one channel ever so slightly.

Also don't just apply a "big" reverb. Put the vocals in a natural space. IOW, use a short, small room reverb for the vocal to sit in. Then if you want run it into a big verb.

Don't forget eqing the vocals. Start there.
