Hi guys

ive tried recording through my sound card
emu1212m
it seems to clip at low volumes
i wonder if its the card or the chain

but it doesnt sound right at all
ive tried using 2 different distortion sources
they both sound the same like this

is there anyway i can solve this problem?

guitar -> tonebone hot british stomp box/ line out from peavey xxx amp -> DI box -> sound card direct

am i doing something wrong?

i tried recording drum tracks through a zoom pedal direct
it sounded nice and clear

it just that distortion sounds like a fuzz box with lots of clipping.

do i need a preamp or anything?

please tell me how should i solve this problem.

Best bet is to mic the peavey. Have you tried just the stomp box into the card bypassing the amp?

yes ihave tried

guitar to distortion stomp box to sound card

it clips at low volume

even the recording level is low

its probably your card or computer or recording program
sell them and get an 8 track analog recorder you'll be happier

Hi
Can you give a little more detail on your recording set up? What software are you using? This should be pretty straight forward to get sorted!
Cheers
