Hey, everyone I'm new to the forum; I'm using Acid 4.0 and an M-audio box to record vocals over instrumentals; the question I have is how do you edit the sound levels of each recorded vocal; when listening to the finish product some verses are louder than others; I've tried editing it in sound forge; however it is not working, me and some friends of mine are just starting out, we have a home built studio; we're using a studio mic, with a mic screen and all; but some tracks are more louder, because of the differences in voice levels of each person recording; I also wanted to know how do you hear yourself recording in Acid, cause I can't hear myself while recording. One last question does anyone know how to make a chorus or a hook sound more like a chorus, than just like a normal verse? What plugins could I use in Sound Forge 6 to accomplish these problems, thanks for any help that you can give.

to change volume of different verses, add a volume envelope.

to make the chorus sound different, you have a million options at your disposal.

i have heard of panning certain instruments hard left and right when the chorus hits (like a pair of guitars). this can be accomplished with a pan envelope.

you could add harmonies

or a doubled vocal track,

or you could pan those doubled vocals hard left and right.

you can boost some high frequencies on the chorus with an eq.

you could bring out some instrument that wasn't very noticable before, like a high hat or something.

if you listen to the beatles, when they hit a chorus, sometimes the entire set of instruments changed. just listen to other cds, the possibilites are endless.

I'm gonna' clue you in on a secret: They're called headphones. You can probably get some at the same place you bought your mic screen.
