Hey everyone,

Thinking about getting an electroharmonix big muff. Doeas anyone know the difference between the USA and the Russian issue?

Is one better that the other?

Speaking from experience, don't waste your time on the Russian POS.

Ditto. The Russian made sounds like the worst DOD overdrive.

Depending on your preferences, you may want to wait a couple of months and look at the Behringer "Vintage Distortion" pedal that is being released. It's essentially a Big Muff knock off from the looks of it.

As for the Big Muff Pi, I love mine. But, it has it's place. I would take the USA over the Russian, but it is truthfully two completely different sounding pedals. You may want to give a tester of both before buying.

The USA EH products own. Don't roll over them with a tank, but pretty much anything else they can take, and they sound killer. All of them are true-bypass aswell. The price of a USA EH Big Muff should still be alot lower than any Boss distortion box, and sounds alot nicer!

I own a Mini Q-tron (great envelope filter) and a Holy Grail (best reverb pedal under 100 bucks).

Oh? I thought they were. Both of my pedals are true bypass anyway.

Unscrew the case and look at the switch. If there is 9 pins it is true bypass, if it is only 6, then it is not. EH makes no claims for their pedals to be true bypass. Most companies like to toss that tidbit of info out there as it is a VERY good selling point in most cases, but EH doesn't mention it anywhere.

I know, I've build pedals myself and both of my EH pedals came with blue, 9 pole, 3PDT switches.
