Prokeys 88 probably has the worst keybed ever! Seriously you'll never want to play the thing. I bought one because of all the control it had, but I wanted to throw it out the window after playing it for ten minutes. I own a P70 that I use as a controller. You'll like the feel on that.
I'm from the old school as well. I love my triton studio, but i'm finding that i'm using it alot less. I use reason and my motif rack far more... I do still love the way the keys feel... so i would never give it up, but software based softsynths are far less a burden on the pockets and yes they are getting alot better.
jpmorris wow! I understand now, alot of good points.
I learn something everytime I login.
I do like hardware im not putting it down. Im waiting for a good deal on a motif es at the moment. Im sure I will find one on ebay soon.
Right now before I got my laptop for college my computer is hardly fast enough to run softsynths. I only run a select few and at times my computer will give me the blue screen of death and force me to restart saying my computer has just recovered from a serious error. I am going to try to get a duo chip laptop so it can maybe keep up with all of this software but right now I kinda like to stay away from softsynths though at times I do see if my computer runs them smoothly and if they are worth the hassle.

Do'nt know what School you are going to Son but, I really hope they do'nt stress the "English" part! I know, I know, "what's spelling etc. got to do with music?" Plenty! If you do'nt pay attention to the DETAILS! Son, you'll never get far. This goes for music, programming, writing, whatever! Bear this in mind and, Best of Luck!

Yamaha feel (as with any feel), is subjective. I personally vastly prefer Roland's action to Yamaha, although that's just me. I know folks who loathe Roland and are gay for Yammy.
