Peavey ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Does anyone have an opinion on the recordability of the Bib Baby made by Taylor? I've played one and I love the feel and sound and I'm looking for a second guitar to compiment the sound of my roundback.

I've read through the recent threads on good guitars and they are mentioned but not discussed.

Also, do you know if the onboard electronic that are mounted on in the side of the body alters the timbre of the instrument much? I'd love to go direct live, but not at the expense of acoustic sound quality.

Thanks!
Chris

hi chris..

i've never seen one with electronics..so i can't comment.

i have a friend who uses one for his acoustic solos (it's much easier on the fingers than his dreadnought)...it is rather punchy in the mids...has a lot of "bite"...he mic's it at the 12th fret.....sounds nice to me...

as far as playability...the only problem i see with it is that the frets are not trimmed that well and if you slide your hand up and down the neck a lot, watch the section of you hand that slides across the top or bottom of the neck lol...(i tend to do this..slide a lot i man..)..it'll graze 'ya...

good luck..you can't go wrong with only spending about $300...:D

I've played the Baby Taylor and the Big baby Taylor, and I think the Larrivee Parlor guitar (about $400) is better than either of them.

The Baby Taylor is a 22 3/4" scale, and sounds like a toy.
The Big Baby Taylor is a 25 1/2" scale, and sounds much better--nice, even response. This is a nice guitar. I wouldn't mind owning it.

Both Taylors use sapele laminate for back and sides.

The Larrivee Parlor is a 24" scale, and has excellent projection, playability and tone.

The Larrivee Parlor is 100% solid wood construction. The back and sides are solid mahogany. It also has a hand-fitted dovetail neck joint.

Here's the Larrivee website:

I have seen the Parlors at Guitar Center.

You should also check with these guys:

I have bought my last three guitars from Buffalo Brothers. They also have a 100% trade up policy.

The Big Baby and the Parlor are both excellent, but if I was buying, it would be the Parlor.
