Thats cause their prices are most of the time 10-20% lower then everybody else, and they can't advertise that low, even their website which you can buy from, has the same price as everybody else now, but if you call you can sometimes maybe even most of the time get cheaper prices.
by the way jazz, nobody hates you, it's just nobody wants to hear about how their favorite snare mic doesn't stack up to the vintage version. True or not, not something anybody wants to hear. Plus, stay away from what "somebody told you". ( Unless it's Harvey, then it's like gospel or something)
You must have gotten "the big book". They sent me a 20 page one that has prices in it. All of the prices in it was pure retail. It says call for best price like a million times in their thou. They have some good stuff, good to hear they have decent prices when you call.
I've bought a couple of Beyer mics from Full Compass. Best price I could find and decent service too. I have the M88TG (awesome mic, btw) and a M130. I'm about to order the M160 to go w/ my 130.
IMHO, Beyerdynamic has always made quality stuff that is often overlooked ... great customer service as well. Some of the best deals (or should I say steals) ive gotten on ebay were Beyer mics ...
a pair of M260's for $75
a pair of MC740's for $350
